scars (cyclone idai tribute) - vi the law lyrics
survivor guilt
intro
survivor guilt is a mental condition where someone believes they have done something wrong by surviving a traumatic event when others did not
it is a natural part of the grieving process
but one must understand that
life will go on
verse 1
imagine what it feels like, when your world turns against you
everyting you know is really tryna hurt you
…when down to earth..is something that brings pain
who knew that you could lose so much because of the rain
the same rain that gave life to all their crops
the same rain that sustained their livestock
but mother nature had some other plans
deposits in the river..made it to the bank
and there goes their homes…there goes their life
he lost his wife…all the kids died
she’s screaming why..eyes to the sky
lord tell me why…lord tell me why
i also need some answers…tragedy leaves me baffled
its so random…life is just a raffle
this is a reminder it could go any way
cherish every moment you can go any day
chorus
can’t imagine what you’re going through
can’t imagine the pain
i dont know what to say
i pray you’ll be okay
bridge
i pray you’ll be ok x 4
verse 2
you know how it is…chain messages
cyclone coming…didn’t take it serious
last i remember was one named elene
but i was just a kid…far removed from the scene
and its sort of like a movie…watching news channels
talking bout your country…messaging your aunty
like is everything okay over there
video clips showing that its bad over there
but it only sunk in
when they started talking deaths
of school kids dying while sleeping in their beds
mud slides…people getting crushed by the rocks
d-mn…to be honest i was shocked
a week before we heard about a plane that had crashed
lives lost…still tryna handle all the facts
but here we are facing our very own crisis
its with a heavy heart that i really had to write this
coz..
chorus
can’t imagine what you’re going through
can’t imagine the pain
i dont know what to say
i pray you’ll be okay
bridge
i pray you’ll be ok x 4

outro prayer
(rain falling in background)
we as a nation witnessed one of the most horrific natural disasters, so many lives lost, so many homes destroyed..we pray that those who lost their lives find eternal peace, we pray for those left behind to find strength in the lord, to find a way to move on
amen
