when he first saw the men in blue
as his mother held him in her arms so tight
he swore that he’d get back at them
when his dad did not come home again
he dreamed about the day he’d leave to fight

by the time he reached his fighting age
he seen his family’s farm ablaze
but the war had ended many years ago
he longed for days of bygone years
but he thought hе may shed those tears
so hе went northwest to fight the cold and snow

while longing for the farm he knew
so he packed his things and went down to his home
where once the house and barn that stood
lay a city’s bustling neighborhood
so he went back to the mountains more to roam

he never did go home again
though he missed the days from way back when
he found he loved those mountains way on high
so he lived his life in his new home
and nevermore from there did roam
and no one knows right where
but there he died
