at the beginning, there was a man with an egg for a head
the man, seemingly discontent with his life and longing for a purpose
trekked the world, light on supplies and afraid of what awaited around every corner

after 922 days and nights, the man stumbled across a tree witch in the middle of the forest
the witch had no intention of harming the weary traveler, in fact it seems she felt desire to cure the man’s ailments of mind and soul
she offered her sеrvices, on one condition, to which the man accеpted

thus begun their training, beginning first with moss, moving on to bark
branching out to the skirts of the forest, rising with complexity, they continued
moving on to living things, b*tterflies, birds, bees, foxes, whatnot

appreciating the larger picture they looked at the rainbows in the sky, clouds, the rising and falling of the sun and moon, the stars at night
a tradition they would repeat
until the man with the egg for a head, now joined as one with the tree witch, had found her purpose
and so, she sits on her stump once more, awaiting the next weary traveler to stumble across her little world of merriment and fulfillment
