kyussa - matt gould lyrics
kyussa lyrics
[griffin, spoken]
it starts because it’s hard
[rain lady]
huh!
[griffin, spoken]
so anytime something’s hard you’re gonna question whether or not you’re supposed to be doing it. if it was easy, i wouldn’t question, but more often than not, it’s hard. to raise money. or to find a sponsor. or to understand what’s going on over there when i’m all the way over here…it makes things difficult. so there’s times when i’m like:
i don’t know if this matters
[ensemble]
[chorus]

o kyusa
[griffin, spoken]
i lay in my bed at night and think to myself, what if i never met them? what if i never got on that plane? how diffеrent would my life be? somеtimes i’m like, quit! give up! but once i knew their names, once i’d seen their faces, i could never forget!
[ensemble]
[chorus]
siri omugagga
si kikulu
ndimumalirivu
okuyamba
kisoboka
okukyusa
nnayamba okukyusa
o kyusa
[griffin, spoken]
there’s some passage in the bible it’s about obeying. like sometimes you’re supposed to hear the call and obey! you don’t need to know why you’re doing it, you just need to obey. so there’s a part of me that started this organization because i was trying to obey!

[griffin, spoken]
i felt, when we started, i felt clear. i felt very clear that this was a story that i was supposed to share with people, and other people were supposed to share with people, and they were supposed to share with people about the simplicity of helping!
because really it could be simple. i think that’s like the big thing in life and in politics and whatnot…a lot of it’s really simple. it’s like the solutions are simple! it’s like everyone pulled their weight! if everyone did what they were supposed to do then we wouldn’t have all of these massive issues in the world! so putting a small group of kids through school shouldn’t be a massive issue… but i think what happens is, everyone doesn’t actually want to take on that!
[rain lady]

[griffin, spoken]
why?
[ensemble, spoken]
why?
[griffin, spoken]
did i go?
[ensemble, spoken]
naro!
[griffin]
i close my eyes
i look to the sky
heavenly father
please hear my cries—
i want to know more
i want to see more
open the door of my heart let it pour
what’s my place on this planet and how do
i fit in it?
give me the strength
so i’m not afraid
take me back to the start
when my world fell apart
back to the other side
because the other side
just might make me alive
