free advice - logan latray lyrics
[act i: logan latray]
i could tell you the breakfast he ate the morning he shot ’em
his political leanings
ideals
and what did it cost him?
to put himself on the tv
and put my friends in a coffin
upvoted manifesto of the lonely man the with the shotgun
echo in chambers so dark you struggle to see your own shadow
honesty is not truth-my youth is just revealing how narrow
minded in never knowing exactly how deep or how shallow
the waters run beneath my feet inside a boat with 1 paddle
so we spin it like the media cycle
no need to recycle
we go 24 hours
and the shooter’s name michael
like i don’t need to know
so its reap what you sew or so what
after all, it’s just a f-cking tv show
because in america
the best way to give yourself a pedestal
is shoot a dozen kids
and watch your message become credible
it’s cyclical
it’s scheduled
it’s sickening
it’s equible
still better off than dying as forgettable
that’s highly f-cking questionable
or maybe it’s not
after all, i just saw all my best friends get shot
years later all those friends get lost
as my mind drops thoughts
twenty years turn by on my watch
voiceless and alone
i have no daughter
have no son
i can’t talk to women
in 4 months um i’ll be 31
the store
the streets
from my mantle
one way i’ll find me a gun
to spread the same p-ssion and purpose i put into this song
who’s going to tell me not to keep my
my faith in god
who’s going to tell me not to keep my
my faith in god
[act ii: logan latray]
there’s a world outside
wating for you
go explore your world
there’s happiness out there for you
there’s happiness there for you
[act iii: j-cole]
we all sell outs. you sellin’ out. you’re going to something that you don’t like. why? so you can live and survive. to me, life don’t feel like its supposed to be like that no more.you know what i mean? it don’t feel right. feels like somebody’s time has gotta be worth more than $8 an hour. half of your day is making $8 an hour? even if you get fifteen an hour. and they trying to raise the minimum wage. it’s like what, to fifteen? an hour of my life is worth fifteen dollars? okay, but, i gotta do it. i gotta work. i gotta eat. you’re on the plantation man. basically what i’m telling you right now. what i realized is like, the monetary, the material, even the success, the things that you place your importance on, never can satisfy you or ever make you happy because they never end. there’s no amount of money that will ever make you stop if money is what you care about. you’ll keep going. oh, i got a million, got to get ten, got ten, gotta a hundred, got a hundred, gotta get five, got five, gotta get a billion. if its cars, you’ll never have enough cars. if its women, you’ll never have enough. you’ll be chasing them forever. if it’s success you can never get enough of that. i’ve realized that. it’s like it doesn’t stop, it keeps calling you, it’s like a drug. it’s a hamster wheel. and it’s like your never satisfied. but if you place your importance on appreciation and love, there’s enough. there’s enough of that in everybody’s life right now if they just took the time to look
