blank - katie (pop) lyrics
a producer to the viewer
the screenwriter and director of the following script preview are my among my favorite of duos; one of the few pairs left in this town guaranteed to delight me and millions of other box-office spenders like yourselves. by sharing in the wealth of their talents, we have become family
while you might know nothing beyond the names, mr. series and mr. stunt, that mark these two bastions of tinsel town, i nonetheless invite you to examine the grand interiority and artistic sensibility governing their work. indeed, the following script may very well represent the truest insights into humanity ever produced by creators whom i can personally describe as mindful of the motivations driving characters and, by extension, viewers. i take fault only with the very rare instances in which they and i disagreed over the entertainment value of certain plot points, which, as you know, have mattered little to the number of satisfied spectators that have flocked to our films’ releases in the past
with the permission of the esteemed mr. series and mr. stunt, i present to you not only the skeleton of future entertainment gold – its script, or at least a part of said script – but also the thoughts governing its creation. in other words, i offer you an early draft of the script complete with annotations from its creators, which i believe will tear you away from the countless hours of streaming videos and endless feeds of social media at your disposal. of course, we will only blame you for your lack of attention to this doc-ment if dreary politics or inane social commentary rather than another of our films diverts your attention! if the latter, please hit play and leave this comparatively boring dribble for another day!
before i allow you to begin the uncommon practice but rather surprising joy of reading, i must reveal my own role in crafting this singular doc-ment for the public. specifically, i have edited out the commentary i believe reveals a bit too much of that hollywood magic. while i am sure mr. stunt and mr. series would express disappointment at veiling the extent of their g*nius in devising this commercial pinnacle of art, i would rather like to preserve the ignorance of you, our viewer, to ensure that your next cinematic experience proves as treasured as creativity’s travels i proved for you the individual and we the studio

creativity’s travels ii
–more exciting t-tle? buzz words? – stunt —no the “ii” breeds a comforting familiarity that will attract viewers overwhelmed by original t-tles at the box office – series
since we last met naval doctor carl creativity he has undergone a crisis of sorts. having traveled the globe, healing the good and defeating the bad, creativity finds himself wary of the battlefield, of adventure. he returns home to a place too sunny and optimistic for his liking: los angeles, california. here, he pursues the only avenue of fulfillment fit for an american hero: he takes up with an attractive actress in an arguably more beautiful mansion. our story begins as creativity begins to sense that meaning evades him
we see creativity moving up and down atop a grey, bland carpet over and over again, doing a repet-tion of push-up, obviously desperate and searching for stimulation
— maybe defeating virtual villain instead? audiences won’t know its a game until the “girl” enters (stunt)
—interesting! will he seem bored enough? eh, we’ll try it on test audiences! (series)
his girl enters the room and, as the camera pans up to focus upon her, we see that the room is littered with gadgets, expensive artwork, and other objects pleasing to the eye. we see that a clear contrast exists between the rest of the room and the grey in creativity’s line of sight. — slow pan to introduce her! (stunt)
— must tell casting to have the actress resemble the one from the first film…
creativity looks up at the girl’s entrance and says
creativity
i’m bored
girl rolls her eyes
girl
i’m bored of you complaining about boredom
creativity returns to his push-ups, responding to her without making eye contact
creativity
when you’re in battle, surrounded by blood, you’re alive. i don’t feel that way anymore
the pouting expression crosses the face of the girl. creativity, focused on the carpet, does not notice her frustration
girl (seductively)
even when you’re with me?
creativity (still looking at the floor)
of course, not. not when i’m…with…you
the girl relishes in his words and sits down beside him on the floor. she pulls out a hand-held device and places it underneath his vertical body. as he bends into another push-up, creativity notices the device and stops, confused
girl (coyly)
you need a distraction
she taps the device and begins to leave the room, calling over shoulder as she does, “use it and come find me when you’re not boring anymore…when you’ve stopped worrying about being alive.”
creativity contemplates the device and reaches to touch its screen’s surface. with that simple touch, something strange seems to occur – the room, with all its other distractions, vanishes. in its place, we find creativity on an island. an island, however, unlike any other in that strange moving images seem embedded in its sand-covered sh0r-s, dazzling the viewer and creativity alike. distraction, it seems, is exactly what he has found. — jazz this up — 3d moment? (stunt)
as creativity wanders the sh0r-s, we realize that the images in the sand have distinct human forms moving about their parameters. viewers of creativity’s past films will recall the many islands on which he found victory and may even believe that these are snapshots of those former victories
—flashback time! let’s let the audience relieve their favorite moments from c’s films! (series)
believing such an idea himself, he murmurs:
creativity
“i’m back.”
mesmerized, he reaches forward and touches an image, much as he did the screen of the device given to him by the girl. it ripples like a pond into which a child has thrown a pebble. the scene shifts again and we find creativity in the midst of a battle. unlike the battles of far off places in which technology-driven warfare reigns supreme, however, this battle involves a street gang riot in an unidentified urban city. not the war creativity belongs to or has sought to reclaim amidst the boredom of his everyday life
—- aka, more blood and gore!! (stunt)
we hear gun shoots and see physical alterations on a city street. a young man, similar in clothing and race to creativity, calls out to our protagonist…
young man
help us!
creativity, in the midst of it all, rushes forward, displaying all the strength and courage we the viewers believe him to have. he brings the enemy – young too, but also less well-dressed and darker than creativity – to their knees in moments with his superior, military-trained combat sk!lls
in the same moment, we the viewer see creativity watching the events unfold in the tiny image in the sand. we are not sure if he has partic-p-ted in the action or simply imagined himself to do so
back in the image’s world, we see that, though the enemy has fled, two combatants remain entangled in a fight. one stabs the other and creativity, somehow nearby the two, watches as the victim falls to the ground. he approaches him, seeking to help, but we see that nothing will save him. the victim, hardly human looking due to the distortion violence and conflict has wrought, looks into creativity’s eyes and says…
victim
it’s not fair. will you stay with –
—we might lose them here – too slow (stunt)
—it needs re-working. why would the audience care about this person they’ve never seen before? (series)
—let’s make it someone from a past film – cameo! – and then c can dramatically save him just in time – way more interesting!!!
but he’s cut off as we’re suddenly thrust back onto the beach with creativity, who has turned away from that particular image on the sand. distracted, it seems, by all the other images the beach has to offer, we watch as he dives into other worlds – worlds where extreme battles are waged against clear villains; worlds where men and women play a game of attraction; worlds where luxury, beauty, and excitement wait around every corner. as we spend time among these places, we, like creativity, become enthralled by the spectacle displayed
— spectacle, spectacle, spectacle!!! most important part of the film! most screen time? (stunt)
suddenly, the next tap on the sand’s image sends him careening into a room we recognize: the grey carpet, the art-covered walls of creativity’s home. the girl sits on the cushioned sofa, beaming at him
girl
bored?
— should we make him say “no!”…the audience might not get it….. (series)
he crosses the room and embraces her, device still in hand. carrying her and it, creativity exits the room to wander into the stunning yard, replete with a pool and orchard filled with apple trees, beyond
