fade in:

int. frank’s diner and drive*in * rochester valley * 9:05am

marty walks into a 50’s era retro diner, it’s semi*full but everyone seems happy to be there, the waitresses are up early but seem to enjoy their shifts. the sun is shining, the birds are chirping, the warm smell of coffee and tea fills the room, and an innocent teenager walks in with a mission: to find the girl from last night

marty hall, a 19 year*old teen, 5’9, brown curly hair, sporting wire frame glasses, a wrinkled white tee french*tucked into a pair of distressed black jeans, a pair of beaten stan smiths, and red lipstick smeared all over his left arm

marty passes a few booths filled with people having their breakfast, as he checks around the restaurant in search of a blonde*haired girl from the night before. he takes a walk and doesn’t spot the girl, but does spot a semi*familiar face sitting at a booth next to a big window facing the drive*in screens

oliver
hey man, what’s up? you were at the party last night right? the one on 1st ave?

oliver oaks, 19*year olds, 5’10, black curly messy hair, sporting a wrinkled black t*shirt with a red rose on the top left tucked into a pair of distressed black jeans and a pair of white comme des garçons x converse high*top sneakers. a rose*gold, rose chain hangs from his neck

marty
oh sh*t yeah, how’s it going?

oliver
sh*t man i’m good * well not good, but i’m still here, aren’t i?

marty
barely by the looks of it, what’re you doing here so early?

oliver
oh, this is my morning after recovery spot, coffee will wake you right up, take a seat
marty sits down on the red leather booth seat and notices a card with the text table 42” on it

oliver
plus, i’m waiting for my girl * or ex*girl, i don’t really know where we stand right now

marty
oh sh*t, sorry to hear that

oliver
i’m not. we “break up” every other week, and every week she runs right back to me when she realizes how much she needs me in her life. we meet up here to talk about our problems and eventually kiss and make up, this booth is basically a therapy chair for her

marty
where’s she at then?

oliver
she’s late, but then again she always is, recovering from the night before. you know, that’s the one about her i can rely on…

a waitress approaches the table with a notepad and a pen

melanie
hey there guys, welcome to frank’s diner and drive*in, my name’s melanie and i’ll be taking care of you today. can i get you some coffee, you want the usual?

melanie grey, a 23 year*old woman, 5’6, black hair, wearing a 50s*esque waitress uniform with a name*tag pinned to her chest, she is wearing white knee*high socks and her hair is a bun

oliver
yeah, bring one for my friend here too, what was your name again man?
marty
marty, marty hall, yours?

oliver
oliver oaks, nice to meet you… again

melanie
two double*doubles coming right up, oh by the way, we’re having a special double feature at the drive*in tonight. we’re showing pulp fiction and back to the future, so it’s gonna be a good time. hopefully it doesn’t rain too much before the movie starts though

marty
thanks, will do

melanie walks away after jotting down their orders and moves on to tend some other customers, smiling at the boys. the sound of her red high heels against the floor tiles filled the room as she walked away to help the next table

marty
i’m actually waiting for a girl as well, i met her last night… i think

oliver
what do you mean, you think?

marty
well there’s my problem, i don’t remember much of last night, and i woke up at that summer camp near town with this written on my arm in lipstick, and the address for this place in my phone’s gps

marty raises him arm from under the table, revealing the words “meet me at 9:05” written on his left forearm in a dark*red lipstick. there is a little heart drawn next to the words slightly covered by marty’s watch band. the lipstick is dry but is visibly fresh

oliver
”meet me at 9:05”, d*mn she even ended it with a heart, do you remember anything else about this girl?
marty
well, i remember she was blonde, and hot as h*ll. oh, and she had this red velvet lipstick on… i don’t know…

oliver
well tell me about last night, what happened?
