when the yelling that night started to subside
she packed a bag and left for a new life
she passed her father sleepin’ drunk on the couch
she scoffed and left the house

but she was gone by time the sun came by
maple found herself inside a ditch

for maple’s mother’s locket
but they all seemed to have lost it

maple told herself she wasn’t gonna wait
she took herself out to the bay
but she saw something in the corner of her eye
a golden locket with her mother’s name on the side
she jumped right in and put the locket on her neck
but that’s when the poor girl got swept
by a current, a really deadly current
she couldn’t seem to swim herself out of it
she drowned and ended up in heaven
she saw her mother with her dead grandparents
